This Curriculum intends to provide children who are ready to experience more formal learning with greater opportunities. The emphasis for this group is on more abstract concepts and consolidating learning from previous years. Within this group there is a need to promote social and emotional skills and provide opportunities to learn in the Community. This group are also encouraged to take a more active role in assessment by using self-evaluation to develop understanding of their own learning and next steps. This pathway follows a differentiated National Curriculum:

To ensure children reach their full potential there are further opportunities where appropriate for children to engage in individual pathways and complete SATS exams.
To ensure effective differentiation, each pathway is linked to its own assessment system. This ensures that learning and progress is relevant to each individual child. Learning is sequenced each half term with clear learning intentions to show progression. Teachers may work on other aspects of learning to ensure all gaps are addressed and the back chaining of skills is evidenced for each individual child.
