Hello from the Senior Leadership Team…

Welcome to our website and to Wood Bank school. We are a generic special primary school based in Calderdale teaching pupils with a wide range of complex special education needs and disabilities aged 4-11. Our ambition is for all 121 pupils on roll to reach their potential for personal development, academic achievement and independence, all of which is driven from our strap line, ‘From strong roots we grow and blossom’.

We are passionate about the delivery of high quality teaching and learning and this is successfully achieved through our four bespoke curriculum pathways titled:

 Discover | Develop | Engage | Explore

Pupils are placed at the heart of their learning journey in needs based classes where they experience many fabulous development opportunities each and every day.

Our pupil population is diverse, to ensure that we meet the needs of every child, we invest in the growth, development and wellbeing of a fabulous team of over 100 staff. As such, we value the strategic alignment of our school development priorities with our people and this is being delivered through an ambitious People Strategy. With a shared commitment to pupils and staff, we have successfully modelled a unique senior leadership team structure which bridges professional expertise through the Head Teacher and Director of People roles.

We hope that you enjoy reading about our very special school.
